Getting Religion (1980)

Dec 9, 1980

(1980) Dry Bones cartoon: religion, Sunni, Shi'ite, Zionist, Roman Catholic, Communism, Shuldig,1980
The Israeli Cartoon Museum has decided to produce a travelling exhibit of Dry Bones cartoons. So the LSW (Long Suffering Wife) and I have been going through the more than 7,000 Dry Bones cartoons to select what should go into the show and catalog. The LSW suggested that I share some of our selections with you. So here's one of them. It's from 1980 and is Today's Golden Oldie.

It always appears that religion is an excuse for some of the most ungodly behavior on the face of the Earth.

What's the point of your cartoon?

It reminds me of the politically correct crap that the media spues; as if all religions cause an equal amount of trouble and all are violent.

Everywhere, throughout the world you see all religions peacefully coexist for the vast majority of times, but given the enormous power and science that the Judeo-Christian World created, it must be said that the Christian & Jewish religion is the most tolerant.

There are two "religious" groups who like making noise for noise's sake; atheists who demand the taking down of crosses on public grounds or a nativity scene "because it offends them".

The other religious group? I ain't saying it, but Israel is very familiar with it. Lets just say that.

Those "Godless Russians" - actually Soviet Atheists, tried to crush religion because they relegate man to a bunch of atoms with no meaning in life but to work & die for the collective, the Catholics fought for freedom.
